HMRC are not always right
This is a short video explaining that HMRC can from time to time get your tax wrong! We have seen this on several occasions now. If you have an accountant make sure when HMRC send you a letter requesting tax payments that you check it with them. Many of HMRC’s processes are automated now and it can be quite easy for the left hand robot to not speak to the right hand robot! Thankfully this is not that often but just don’t take their letters as bible! PAYE / CIS PAYE / CIS underpayments are the biggest areas that HMRC get wrong. If you’ve always paid what your accountant has told you to each month the it is more likely that HMRC have got something wrong at their end!
