Blogless
Ok so I haven’t been ‘blogging’ for some time. Even though I tended to only do lots of quoting from posts I really liked anyway which was quite lazy of me. We’ve been very very busy at Cheltenham tax accountants with so much going on in the last year. New clients, new staff and new offices! It’s all good stuff and I can’t complain, however time is a limited resource and unfortunately my social media thinking aloud time has not been that great. I am by no means at all a political theorist and only loosely follow politics. In view of the impending elections the average Joe (including myself) probably has a thought or two about how the changes (or lack of changes) will affect him. In general I like to stick with routine and proven patterns (maybe because I’m an accountant) so have been happy that the ship has been sailing straight under the current government and felt no desperation for change. Of course this very much depends on your individual circumstances as well as the country’s as a whole. Recently this laid back philosophy has been disrupted by some of the tax system changes being implemented and announced. I don’t like the way the government is becoming even more of a ’Big Brother’ as highlighted by some changes heading our way, in particular universal tax credits and the massive overhaul of the tax return system. The latter created huge uncertainty amongst accountants due to the sheer surprise of the announcement. Now my rant is out of the way, I have recently decided to create a better work/life balance for myself and and trialling leaving early on a Friday. My apprentice Rachel works on a flexi-time basis so I thought I may treat myself to the same luxuries. For the record this is only the second Friday and I have been at home at 5pm on both days still replying to people’s emails! Although I will admit the trip to Cafe Rouge at lunch was fantastic! Can’t believe I’ve never been there before and the Wife is already making plans for breakfast.
